PATIENT PARTICIPATION

Clinical trials are an important part of developing new medicines, medical devices, procedures, and approaches to care. Before a new treatment can become widely available, researchers need to understand how well it works, how safe it is, and who may benefit from it.

At Renova Clinical Trials in Tijuana, Mexico, we connect eligible patients with clinical research studies across a range of medical and surgical specialties. Each study has its own requirements, schedule, potential benefits, and risks. Our clinical research team will explain these details clearly so you can decide whether participation is right for you.

Why Participate in Clinical Research?

People choose to participate in clinical trials for different reasons. Some are interested in research involving new or investigational treatment options. Others participate because they want to contribute to medical research that may improve care for future patients.

Not every clinical trial includes the same services, tests, treatment, or compensation. Before you enroll, our team will review exactly what the study involves and answer your questions.

Depending on the study, participation may include:

  • Access to an investigational treatment, medical device, or procedure being evaluated through clinical research

  • Study-related medical evaluations and follow-up visits

  • Regular contact with a dedicated clinical research coordinator

  • Laboratory testing, diagnostic testing, imaging, or other study-specific assessments

  • Reimbursement or compensation for eligible study-related time and expenses

  • Transportation, meals, lodging, or other participant support when included or approved by the study

  • The opportunity to contribute to research that may advance future medical care

What to Expect

Before joining a clinical trial, you will go through an informed consent process. This is more than signing a form. It is your opportunity to understand the purpose of the study, what will happen during participation, how long the study may last, possible risks and benefits, alternative treatment options, and your rights as a research participant.

Participation is voluntary. You can ask questions before and during the study, and choosing not to participate will not prevent you from receiving regular medical care.

If you decide you are interested, our research team will determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements for a current clinical trial. Eligibility varies by study and may be based on factors such as age, diagnosis, medical history, current medications, previous treatments, or other health information.
